Rev. Dr. Edward Jones IV

His story

Called to build on a rich legacy.

On March 1, 2020, Edward Jones IV became the third Senior Pastor of the Grace Missionary Baptist Church. He is a preacher, teacher, educator, and consultant whose ministry has taken him across the country and world. His emphasis on the Word of God, family, multigenerational ministry, education, and community engagement were identified as qualities needed to build upon Grace’s rich legacy.

Roots

Pastor Jones was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and lived in the same neighborhood where the 1921 Black Wall Street Massacre took place. As a pre-teen, he relocated with family to Chicago, Illinois. He was licensed to preach at the age of 20 on August 14, 1994 and ordained on April 18, 1999.

Education

Rev. Jones is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he majored in Political Science and double-minored in Sociology and African-American Studies. He earned his Master of Divinity at North Park Theological Seminary and is currently a Doctor of Ministry student at Liberty University, John H. Rawlings School of Divinity, with an emphasis in Church Revitalization.

Service beyond the pulpit

In addition to local church ministry, Pastor Jones has also served as a higher education administrator. He is a credentialed member of the National Association of Diversity Officers in Higher Education and the Association of Christian Student Developers, a Qualified Administrator for the IDI (Intercultural Development Inventory), and a Certified Facilitator for Prepare/Enrich marriage and couples assessment.

Family

Pastor Jones is a proud and active member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. He is the husband of Lady La Tanya and father of Jasmine, Joshua, Johnathan, Jaclyn, and Jocelyn.
